February Shop Opening + thoughts about growing ✨

God Grant Me Serenity

Hi everyone,

February is here, and my shop is open for the weekend. There’s a slew of new prints and some restocks.

A few noteworthy newcomers:

God Grant Me Serenity

Can't Shit Your Britches

Queen Bug

Letting My Brain Off The Leash

And quite a few more (lots of dogs in sweaters)

I’m consistently selling out of things quickly (thank you!) so I’ve decided to start letting the e-mail list in early. Happy shopping!

If you notice that my shop looks different: I outgrew the capabilities of Squarespace and had to move to Shopify.

Also some updates on the Pet Portraits:

You guys smashed my pet portrait offering, which I am so grateful for.

I thought that I’d get a handful of orders, but I got so many that drawing all your weird little guys is my job right now. I am genuinely enjoying it.

I’m doing them in the order I received them. Keep an eye out for an e-mail with tracking information. Thank you for being patient!

Here are a few of my faves so far:

Bopper (Captain Bopper)

Iggy (pro rollerblader)

Paco (chaotic & good pirate)

It’s so hard to pick my favorites, I really love them all. These are just a handful that have tickled me so far.

Right now I’m at capacity for February, but I am beginning to take orders for March. I will cap them at a lower number because I’m doing C2E2 and two local fairs.

Lots of stuff to market this month, thank you for making it this far.

I’ve gotten in the habit of sharing a small personal update in these e-mails, but this month I’m not really sure what I’d like to share.

There’s no major update, my life just feels unsettled still. I left my job and moved to Chicago six months ago. There are boxes in my studio that I haven’t unpacked, and I still don’t understand the local driving etiquette (I get honked at a lot…)

I keep thinking about something that I feel like I’ve learned: everything worthwhile takes two years to grow.

Two years to get to know someone, to be competent in a new skill, to feel at home in a new city… it just seems like the good parts of life generally develop in two year increments.

So I’m just enjoying where I am in the process.
And as a sign of inconceivable personal growth, I’m enjoying myself instead of losing my mind by trying to hurry the process along. Life is unsettled, and good.

That’s where I’m at, thanks for reading.

And if any Chicago locals are going to C2E2 in March, I’d love to see you!
I’ll have a big corner booth near Artist’s Alley. I’ll be live-drawing pet portraits and my little brother will be slinging prints for me.
Please come say hi and introduce yourself, I love to get to know people (over the course of about 2 years)

Until next time,
<3 janie
