Hi everyone,
I hope 2026 is off to a stellar beginning.
The announcements for this e-mail are:
- My shop is open for this weekend.
- I restocked mini-prints and added more.
- I made some new movie posters.
- Everything scares me but I’m doing it anyways.
Here are some of the newcomers in my shop:
There are many more new prints this shop opening, I’ve been focusing on catching up on my catalogue. I think we’re basically there now, going forward it will be all new art. I’m excited about that!
All my prints are BUY 2 get 1 FREE.
Just put them in the cart and it should automatically knock a print off.
That’s all! Thank you 💕
Now that I’ve marketed things, let’s talk.
This month makes it six months since leaving my job in LA and moving to Chicago.
I’ve managed to get my hands on a few movies since getting here, and I’m slowly making friends in the film community. It feels like I’m heading a good direction and I’m grateful for that feeling.
Most of the posters I’ve done are for unreleased projects and can’t be shared yet, but here are a few things I can share:
Work aside, I am settling into Chicago. I found a gym to train jiu jitsu at, which is part of feeling at home for me. I have a favorite coffee shop and I don’t need my GPS as much. I’m feeling more at home.
It’s funny to be in such a good spot in my life, and still be feeling the deep, overwhelming fear of failure that I experience when I take risks.
It’s absurd, but it takes a serious, focused effort for me to remember that I will physically survive if my plans fail.
I’ve basically lost interest in trying to untangle why I feel this way.
I used to think that if I could just understand all the nuanced layers that come together to make me feel so afraid, that it would stop.
Now I’m less convinced.
This whole season has been a practice of letting that enormous, unreasonable fear of failure roll in like a big storm, riding it out, then going about my plans anyways.
And I’m getting better at it! Like many things, I think there’s some skill involved. Thank god; I can learn a skill.
And none of it would be doable alone. I have a boyfriend that will do the noble work of a weighted blanket, a best friend that calls if I text them a picture of the Kool-Aid Man, and a cat that is a little too happy when I need to spend the day on the couch.
I’m happy and grateful to be doing well. And I’m scared all the time. Because I’m taking risks, and wow I get scared when I do that.
Here’s one of my favorite quotes about fear that I’ve been stuck on:
“And people are afraid.
They are afraid of making fools of themselves.
They’re afraid of criticism.
They’re afraid of being exposed.
But you have to remember that everyone is afraid.
That’s part of being human.”
- Anne Lamott
I like the idea that fear is just part of the game, not something to be fixed or to hide.
Thanks for listening. Wherever you’re at, I hope there’s some comfort in the idea that everyone’s frightened by life. Part of the game bb.
I’ll leave my shop open through the weekend and ship orders out Monday.
If you have any questions just respond to this e-mail and I’ll get back to you.
Until next time,
✌️janie
